Gungineering Notes: CZ Magazine Adapter <Update June 2022>

The most important information to gain from reading this post is that the kit is ready for purchase.

Now on to the rest of the info:

What is it?

The Ruger Pistol Caliber Carbine includes a feature which permits the user to change the Magazine Well so that it may accept a different make of pistol magazine. These inserts are currently available for the Ruger American, SR9, and Glock magazines.

This simple and well-designed feature inspired our team to develop a similar insert for the CZ 75 Shadow line of pistols. As such, this kit include all the necessary components to adapt the PC Carbine to accept CZ 75 magazines.

Where can I buy it?

These magazine adapter kits are currently exclusively available at Select Shooting Supplies.

Though we have been actively reaching out to distributors, we have yet to secure a deal for wider distribution. If you're interested in distributing this product, please contact us as sales@innovationarmoury.ca for distributor pricing.

How much is a kit?

The Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) is $99.95 CAD per kit, plus applicable taxes.

Is it compatible with my PC Carbine Chassis?

This adapter kit has been designed for, and tested with, the Ruger synthetic stock and the synthetic stock with aluminum free-float handguard. As such, we cannot validate that it will be 100% compatible with any other stock or chassis produced by Ruger or any other company.

We have recently been made aware that the replacement button that is currently available with this kit is not compatible with the Upriser Chassis.

These issues may be addressed with compatibility kits in the future.

If you're currently developing, or have developed, a chassis or stock for the PC Carbine, and want to include compatibility with this adapter kit, we'd be happy to work with you to make it work. Contact us at sales@innovationarmoury.ca

Is it compatible with my CZ-75 magazine?

This adapter kit has been design for, and tested with, a range of OEM and aftermarket CZ-75 magazines, including:

  • CZ Magazines: CZ 75 (SP-01 & SP-02) Shadow 1 & 2

  • Mec-Gar Magazines: CZ 75 (SP-01 & SP-02) Shadow 1 & 2

Based on our testing, if your magazine works with your CZ-75, it'll work with this adapter. With that said; it is optimized to work with CZ-75 Shadow 2 magazines in general.

Is it difficult to install?

Installation instructions are included in the packaging. The inside of the cardboard topper on the package contains a set of graphical instructions, including the removal of stock components from the adaptors included with the PC Carbine, as well as the installation of all required components onto the magazine adapter body.

Aside from a slightly different button installation, this kit may be installed into the Ruger PC Carbine stocks using the instructions which accompany the firearm itself. Further video instructions will be made available online in the near future.

What Next?

When we first started developing this product, we envisioned developing adaptors for as many different 9mm magazines as possible. Though the list started off being fairly long, we've had to eliminate several types and models due to incompatibility with mag catch geometry and location.

With that said; we've successfully produced prototypes which accept SIG P320 and CANIK 9mm magazines. We've gone as far as to produce a mold for those magazine adapters, but haven't finalized the bolt catch components as of the writing of this post.

Unfortunately, as with any other product in the market, sales performance will dictate whether or not we're able to carry on with the development of future designs. Thanks to the recent and proposed changes in Canadian firearms legislation, it seems to be getting more and more difficult to survive in this industry.

But we're not ready to give up just yet.

Improvise, Adapt, Overcome.
